The Irish Writers Centre are happy to announce more remote writing courses for those of you looking to explore creative writing opportunities while staying safe at home! If you have an interest in writing across languages, Fióna Bolger‘s All the Words in the World 3-week course will encourage you to explore creative writing while breaking down language barriers. We’re now offering a special, one-time discount for this course when you use the code WORDS20

Author Gavin McCrea will kick-off a six-week LGBT+ Voices course in early May. Participants will learn to use fiction to give voice to the LGBT+ experience in this comfortable, remote learning setting. And for the beginners out there, William Ryan will be introducing The Fundamentals of Fiction. Whether you’ve dabbled with writing before or not, this course might just be the thing to kickstart your creative journey.

We are delighted to announce that Caelainn Hogan, Sarah Maria Griffin, Cat Hogan and Gerard Beirne have been selected as the four recipients of our Writer-in-Their-Residence scheme. These writers will receive financial support as they develop an existing work in progress, while documenting the particular challenges of writing during a pandemic. You will be able to follow their journeys on social media where they’ll be using the hashtag #WritersInTheirResidence.

Cúirt’s newly launched digital festival will kick-off tomorrow. You can follow our Young Writer Delegates on Instagram as they delve into the remote events.

In other news, poets across the country are invited to get involved in Poetry Day Ireland, which will take place remotely on Thursday 30 April. Everyone can take part from the safety of their own home and collectively experience the joy of poetry. Have a look at the Poetry Ireland website for more.

Slán go fóill,
