NI Water’s education team joined forces with the Mid Ulster Council education department to bring lessons about plastic pollution to pupils at Windmill Integrated PS. Pupils learned about how litter or flushed plastic items can end up as ocean plastics.
The main cause of blocked sewers and out of sewer flooding is the flushing of inappropriate items such as baby wipes, cotton buds and sanitary products. Blockages are completely avoidable and our advice is simple, only flush the 3P’spoo, pee and toilet paper.
