FSAI Hosting Food Labelling Information Webinar for Food Businesses

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) is continuing its ‘Breakfast Bites’ webinars, a series of free, informal webinars for food businesses. The first webinar in the latest series, ‘Food labelling for food businesses – what you need to know’ will be held on Wednesday, 3rd March 2021 from 10:00am – 10:40am. Clodagh Crehan, Senior Technical Executive, Regulatory Affairs, FSAI will outline all of the information that by law, must be declared on labels, regardless of the size of a food business. Places at the webinars are limited and registration is required via the FSAI website.

Other areas covered on the day will include an overview of the EU and Irish rules on food labelling, explaining when a food is considered prepacked, when it is non-prepacked and the relevant information that must be provided for both. Following the presentation attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions.

Encouraging people to sign up for the Breakfast Bite webinar, Dr Pamela Byrne, Chief Executive, FSAI said: “Food labelling is an important tool that provides consumers with the necessary information they require when choosing food products they want to eat to fit their dietary requirements. It also provides vital information such as food allergens and use-by dates to alert consumers about the date a food may be used safely. It is essential for all food businesses to understand their legal obligations when it comes to the information that must be provided for consumers, and this short webinar will educate and assist them in fulfilling these legal requirements.”
