Hard Work Starts Now On Brexit-Retail NI.

Commenting on Brexit Day, Retail NI Chief Executive Glyn Roberts said:

“Brexit day should not be about celebration. Instead the focus should be on the hard challenges that lie ahead for Northern Ireland and its economy”

‘It is absolutely vital that the UK secures a free trade agreement with the EU over the next eleven months- a massive challenge given that the average time to conclude a trade deal is four years”

“We have a huge task ahead to avoid lengthy delays, paperwork and processes on trade between GB and NI. It is vital for retailers and consumers that the ‘just in time’ supply chain is as frictionless as possible”

“It is also important that the NI Executive not only maintains its office in Brussels but enhances it to ensure the relationships and networks that we have build up in the EU over 47 years continues for the benefit of our local economy”

“Retail NI looks forward to working with the Executive Brexit sub group on the all the hard work ahead”
