Belfast software company, EventMAP, is investing over £1.6million and creating 20 jobs as part of an ambitious growth strategy.
The Queen’s University and University of Nottingham spin-out focuses on the development and application of software products and services that optimise timetabling and resource management for companies to realise significant annual financial savings.
EventMAP’s customisable cloud-based platform, OPTIME, was developed through Invest Northern Ireland’s support for R&D. The platform is currently used across a variety of sectors, with clients including Airbus, BAE Systems, C4, Kings College Hospital, Metropolitan Police London, Cambridge University and Stranmillis University College.
Invest NI has offered the company technical assistance, skills development and support for R&D, over several years. This latest offer provides £140,000 of support towards the creation of 20 new jobs.
Dr Barry McCollum, CEO and co-founder, said: “Now, more than ever, organisations need to be able to efficiently and effectively resource and optimise their business activity to achieve successful outputs, and continue to thrive. Our company vision is to become a recognised leader in the global planning and management software sector; the 20 new jobs will be vital in helping us to achieve this.”
Kevin Holland, Invest NI’s CEO, said: “EventMAP is an ambitious company that we have worked with closely since 2013 offering financial support along with strategic, expert business advice to help it reach its full potential. I am delighted that the company is thriving and building up its team with 20 new jobs.
“These jobs will generate over £700,000 in additional annual salaries for the local economy, while also bringing new export opportunities, to help place the company on the global map.”
Dr Paul McMullan, Chief Technical Officer and co-founder, added: “Invest NI’s ongoing support has been invaluable. Its R&D support has helped us to develop our core product offering that is currently succeeding across the United Kingdom and a number of key markets worldwide. This recent assistance to grow our headcount will allow us to take our products and services to new markets with an expert team and to grow our global presence further.”
Recruitment is underway with jobs in programming, along with a range of managerial roles across quality processes, marketing, R&D development and digital marketing. All employees are currently working from home, and new employees will be on-boarded remotely and work from home.
Invest NI’s R&D support is part financed by the European Regional Development Fund under the EU Investment for Growth and Jobs Programme 2014–2020.
