“We welcome the Government’s announcement regarding the introduction of additional supports for SMEs yesterday, and in particular, the new flexibilities within the Trading Online Voucher scheme.
“According to our recent SME Digital Health Index, 73% of SMEs say their website is important in driving future sales growth therefore, the ability to apply for a second voucher under new Government schemes is a significant benefit to those SMEs who need to upgrade their websites.
“During these uncertain times, such measures will help to keep businesses in operation by enabling them to upgrade or establish a retailing presence online which will allow many to continue to trade.
“While this a great first step by the Government, it is important that we also think about the future, particularly the weeks and months following the crisis, and look to identify what additional supports could be offered to help businesses to get back on their feet once this crisis has passed.
“We strongly encourage businesses to make use of the financial and technical supports available to them through the Government, local enterprise offices and chambers of commerce at this time.”
